ABOUT US

Symbiont Plant Research Services was formed in 2024 to harness two decades of horticultural research, development and extension experience held by Principal Research Scientist, Dr Melinda Perkins.

After receiving a University Medal for outstanding scholarship from The University of Queensland (UQ), Melinda pursued a research career by obtaining a PhD in food chemistry and embarking on a profession in horticultural science, firstly with UQ in 2004 and then the Queensland Government, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries in 2020.  During that time, she gained a reputation for reliable, on-time delivery of research projects on crop production and postharvest issues relating to a range of fruits, vegetables and ornamentals. Melinda achieves success through collaboration with growers, peak industry bodies, commercial stakeholders, universities and government organisations.
